How it works
How Singapore salary is estimated
The calculator annualizes monthly salary, adds annual bonus, estimates employee CPF for Singapore Citizens and PRs from the third year, then applies Singapore resident income tax rates from YA 2024 onward.
For non-resident employment income, it estimates tax as the higher of 15% of gross employment income or the resident-rate tax estimate. CPF is optional because many foreign employees do not contribute CPF.
FAQ
Is this Singapore salary calculator payroll accurate?
No. It is a planning estimate for salary comparison and budgeting. Actual tax and CPF can vary by tax residency, citizenship or PR year, bonus timing, relief eligibility, rebates, payroll period, and employer setup.
What CPF rate is used?
For citizens and PRs from the third year, the calculator uses employee CPF rates from 1 January 2026. The default age band, 55 and below, uses 20% employee CPF, while older age bands use lower employee rates.
Does the calculator apply CPF wage ceilings?
Yes. It applies the 2026 monthly ordinary wage ceiling of S$8,000 and a simplified additional wage cap using the annual wage ceiling. This helps bonus estimates behave more realistically than applying CPF to every dollar without limits.
How should I enter bonus?
Enter predictable annual bonus in the annual bonus field. If your bonus is uncertain, run one estimate with no bonus and another with a conservative expected bonus to see a practical take-home range.
What are personal reliefs?
Personal reliefs reduce chargeable income. Examples can include earned income relief, CPF relief, spouse relief, child relief, parent relief, course fee relief, or other eligible reliefs depending on your personal situation.
How are Singapore tax residents taxed?
Tax residents are taxed using progressive resident rates. Lower bands are taxed lightly, and the first S$20,000 of chargeable income is taxed at 0%, which is why many middle-income salary cases show modest annual tax.
How are non-residents taxed?
For employment income, Singapore non-residents are generally taxed at 15% or resident progressive rates, whichever gives the higher tax. This calculator follows that simplified rule for quick salary planning.
Should foreigners select no CPF?
Most foreign employees on work passes do not contribute CPF, so no employee CPF is usually the better setting. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents should use the CPF setting that matches their status and PR year.
What if I am a first-year or second-year Permanent Resident?
This version uses the full CPF rate for citizens and PRs from the third year. First-year and second-year PR contribution rates can be lower, so select no CPF for a rough lower-deduction scenario or adjust expectations manually.
Does monthly net pay include employer CPF?
No. Employer CPF is not spendable take-home pay. This calculator focuses on employee CPF deductions and income tax because those directly reduce cash received by the employee.
Why can CPF make take-home pay look lower even though it is savings?
Employee CPF reduces monthly cash available for spending, but it is still part of your long-term savings. For budgeting, treat CPF as locked or restricted savings rather than money available for rent, food, travel, or discretionary spending.
Does this calculate monthly tax withholding?
No. It estimates annual income tax and converts net annual income into an average monthly take-home figure. Actual tax payment timing can depend on IRAS assessment, GIRO arrangements, employer filing, and personal tax notices.
How should I use this calculator before accepting a Singapore job offer?
Compare monthly cash after employee CPF and estimated tax, not just gross salary. Then check rent, transport, food, insurance, family support, and savings goals before deciding whether the offer works.
Why does bonus affect CPF and tax differently?
Bonus increases annual income and can increase income tax. CPF on bonus is estimated using the additional wage ceiling, so a high bonus may not have CPF applied to every dollar once wage ceilings are reached.
